Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – UN Secretary-General António Guterres visited the "New Uzbekistan" Park, the Hazrati Imam Complex, and the Center of Islamic Civilization in Tashkent.
The UN chief arrived in Uzbekistan on 30 June.
António Guterres laid flowers at the base of the Independence Monument in "New Uzbekistan" Park, where he familiarized himself with the history of the country’s independent development and the creation of this unique complex.
Guterres also visited the Hazrati Imam Complex and the Center of Islamic Civilization.
The Secretary-General was briefed on the history of the mosque and tombs within the complex, as well as the ongoing construction of the Center of Islamic Civilization.
Guterres showed great interest in the Quran of Uthman and other historical and spiritual monuments.
