UN organizes seminar for Central Asian states on safe dam use
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
A seminar on security of hydro technical establishments (dams) for specialists from Central Asia will be held in Moscow, Russia, next week. The event is organized under the aegis of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
UNECE noted that interest for secure use of over 300 large dams and other hydro engineering constructions, located mainly in transboundary rivers, is increasing in Central Asia in recent years, UN News Center reported.
UN makes all efforts for development of cooperation in the region on exchange of information and warning in case of accidents or emergency situations at dams.
