Approximately 62% of Uzbekistan’s population constitutes youth under the age of 30, and 35% represent children under the age of 16. With an objective to listen to young people, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Volunteers (UNV) in Uzbekistan at the height of summer holidays announced the song contest among youth of Uzbekistan on the eight Millennium Development Goals, including gender equality, education, environment, HIV/AIDS and enhancement of living standards.
The contest gained momentum and the selection panel received 127 submissions from youth from all over the country.
The award ceremony will highlight the best young non-professional music bands, singers and musicians, males and females in the age of 14 to 27 that participated with their records in various styles on the topics of gender equality, prevention of HIV/AIDs, protection of environment, healthy lifestyle, education, enhancement of living standards.
The competent selection committee consisting of employees of UNDP and UNFPA, UNIC, as well as local TV presenters, famous composers and journalists covering the issues of Uzbek show business.
