UN in Geneva hosts event dedicated to Navruz
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An event dedicated to celebration of Navruz was held at the UN Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was organized by diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Over 800 people attended the event. Among them were diplomats of diplomatic corps and international organizations in Geneva, representatives of public and cultural organizations of Switzerland, Jahon news agency reported.

Acting head of the UN Office in Geneva Michael Møller, speaking at the event, said that ancient Navruz symbolized hope and renewable, promotes universal values such as tolerance, respect, understanding and good neighborly relations between various peoples. During the event, the guests had chance to familiarize with rich traditions of nations, which organized the event, various publications and taste national cuisines.

Uzbekistan presented samples of works of artisans, illustrations and publications about Uzbekistan, its rich historic and cultural heritage, tourism potential, achievements during independence years.

The guests were treated with traditional Uzbek cuisines and had chance to feel real Uzbek hospitality.
