Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation led by the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Central Asia and head of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), Kaha Imnadze, visited Termez on 24 November. This was announced by the UN Office in Uzbekistan.
The delegation included the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan, Sabine Machl, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime representative for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan, Oliver Stolpe, and the head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Uzbekistan, Andrew Gray.
The delegation met with the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, Ismatulla Irgashev, to discuss key issues related to regional stability and development.
During the visit, the UN officials toured the "Termez Cargo Center" and the "Termez Free Economic Zone."
The delegation also visited the Afghanistan-Uzbekistan Educational Center, where Afghan citizens are being trained.
