Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Minister for the Armed Forces James Heappey visited Uzbekistan this week to meet with defence leaders and military chiefs, for talks to deepen security and defence cooperation.

The minister held talks with the Commander of the National Guard, General Jo’rayev, Special Representative of the President for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev, and Minister of Defence, General Bakhodir Kurbanov to discuss working together to promote regional stability and security. James Heappey has previously visited Uzbekistan in 2021. 

Minister for the Armed Forces, Rt Hon James Heappey MP, said: “My visit this week form part of the approach outlined in the recent Defence Command Paper as we build our strategic international partnerships across Asia, in the interests of security and prosperity for everyone.  I’ve held productive discussions with defence minister and security/military leaders in Uzbekistan laying the groundwork for future cooperation”.
