Uchkurgan — Kensay border crossing to open soon

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A new border crossing point with Kyrgyzstan is set to open in Uchkurgan, Namangan region, the press service of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan said.

On 29 August, Ilham Mukhtarov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, visited the customs post under construction. During the visit, he met with Ulan Kimsanov, the First Deputy Director of the State Customs Service of Kyrgyzstan.

It was noted during the meeting that the Uchkurgan — Kensay border crossing would begin operations in the coming days. The opening of this new border checkpoint will mark a significant step forward in developing cargo transportation across the Fergana Valley.

The "Uchkurgan" customs post is located in close proximity to the Osh — Bishkek highway. The launch of the new crossing point will expedite the delivery of agricultural products and other goods to neighboring countries and beyond.

The construction of the border posts in Uchkurgan and Kensay began in the winter of 2024 and is intended to connect the Namangan region of Uzbekistan with the Jalal-Abad region of Kyrgyzstan.

Currently, there are nine border crossings operating between the two countries. In May 2023, it was reported that Tashkent and Bishkek plan to reopen three border crossings.
