UCell’s net sales reach 398m Sweden kronor in 1Q 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Net sales of Coscom FE LLC, second largest mobile operator of Uzbekistan in terms of subscribers’ base, reached 398 million Sweden kronor (about US$63.3 million) in the first quarter of 2011, which is up 19.16% year-on-year, the Swedish-Finnish telecom operator, TeliaSonera, financial statements said.

TeliaSonera underlined that the growth of net sales was due to accelerated subscription intake and strong growth in value added services.

Subscribers’ base of Coscom, rendering mobile communication services under UCell brand, made up 7.344 million at the end of the first quarter of 2011 against 5.105 million users in the same period of 2010. Number of pre-paid card users rose from 5.031 million in the first three months of 2010 to 7.242 million in the same period of 2011.

According to the company, MOU (Average monthly minutes of usage per subscriber) fell from 290 minutes per month in the first quarter of 2010 to 236 minutes per month in the reporting period of 2011.

FE Coscom LLC was founded in 1996. As of June 2008, the company began rendering services of mobile communication under the UCell brand. The company's subscriber base exceeded 7 million at the end of 2010.

UCell is part of TeliaSonera. TeliaSonera provides telecommunication services in the Nordic and Baltic countries, the emerging markets of Eurasia, including Russia and Turkey, and in Spain. TeliaSonera is now in 20 markets with close to 460 million inhabitants. The number of subscriptions in 2010 reached over 157 million. For the year 2010, TeliaSonera's net sales amounted to approximately US$15 billion and TeliaSonera had around 29,000 employees.

In the emerging markets of Eurasia, TeliaSonera has majority holdings in leading mobile operators in Kazakhstan (Kcell), Azerbaijan (Azercell), Georgia (Geocell), Moldova (Moldcell), Tajikistan (Tcell), Uzbekistan (Ucell), and Nepal (Ncell). TeliaSonera is also a minority owner of MegaFon in Russia and Turkcell in Turkey.
