In July 2007, FE COSCOM LLC became part of the Swedish-Finnish company TeliaSonera, one of the leading European players at telecommunication market, and it became one of leaders in telecommunication market of Uzbekistan.
From June 2008, FE COSCOM LLC launched new trademark Ucell in Uzbekistan and from June 2011, it works under single brand of TeliaSonera in Europe and Eurasia.
Currently Ucell offers wide-scale products and services to its subscribers based on its rich experience of TeliaSonera.
The operator said that from June 2012 up to day, the subscribers’ base of Ucell rose by 40% and exceeds 8 million people, which increases the market share of the operator.
During its operations in Uzbekistan, Ucell introduced new services. It was first operator in Uzbekistan, which launched high-speed mobile internet on 3G technologies and made it accessible across Uzbekistan. Currently, 3G network of Ucell covers over 360 cities and settlements of Uzbekistan.
Currently Ucell is part of society, in which it works. It actively participates in various projects. In last five years, the company paid over 600 billion soums in taxes.
Umida Ziyamova, Specialist of the corporate communications of Ucell, said that the task of the company is to be attractive and effective in the market. She added that the company achieved a lot during short period of time. “We are proud of our corporate culture as it based on responsibility and firm values,” she added.
Ucell is a part of TeliaSonera group, which provides telecommunication services in the Nordic and Baltic countries, Spain and the emerging markets of Eurasia, including Russia and Turkey.
Today TeliaSonera operates in 20 countries with a combined population of more than 460 million people. According to calculations at beginning of 2012, the number of subscribers of the companies owned by TeliaSonera was almost 200 million.
On the emerging markets of Eurasia TeliaSonera owns majority holdings of leading mobile operators in Kazakhstan (Kcell), Azerbaijan (Azercell), Georgia (Geocell), Moldova (Moldcell), Tajikistan (Tcell), Uzbekistan (UCell) and Nepal (Ncell). At the same time, TeliaSonera is the largest minority shareholder of OJSC MegaFon in Russia and the Turkcell in Turkey.
