Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  A tragic incident occurred in Jondor district of Bukhara region, where two people were killed and two others were injured in a gas explosion.

According to the press service of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan, on 17 November, at around 5:30 AM, a gas leak occurred in the bedroom of a residential house, followed by an explosion and a fire.

The entire family was affected by the incident. The parents and two minor daughters were hospitalized at the Bukhara branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Assistance. Unfortunately, the parents passed away from the burns they sustained. The daughters' condition is reported as stable. The family's two sons were unharmed.

On 22 November, a criminal case was opened under paragraph "a" of part 2 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (violation of fire safety rules leading to the death of a person).

An investigation is underway.
