Turkmen leader, Uzbek FM discuss bilateral ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Elyor Ghaniev on 25 April 2011.

Expressing gratitude to the meeting, Elyor Ghaniev delivered warm words of the Uzbek President Islam Karimov, who wished the best wishes to Turkmen leader and nation.

Uzbek Foreign Minister said that Uzbekistan pays great attention to friendly and fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan. He said that the country is waiting for upcoming official visit of Turkmen head to Uzbekistan, which will open new page in inter-state dialogue.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, expressing gratitude to warm words, wished all the best to his Uzbek counterpart Islam Karimov. He said that Turkmenistan adheres to friendly and good neighbourhood relations with Uzbekistan.

Berdymuhamedov underlined his satisfaction with growing cooperation between the countries. During the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on priorities of bilateral partnership, which has great opportunities for further developing in all directions.

The sides said that transport-communication sector is one of the perspective directions of the Uzbek-Turkmen interaction, which is dictated by the location of two states.

President of Turkmenistan and Uzbek Foreign Minister underlined importance of creation of International transport and transit corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman-Qatar, which will boost trade-economic contracts in Asia and Eurasia.

Supporting initiatives of Turkmenistan in this direction, Ghaniev said that implementation of the project, which opens access to world markets, will strengthen peace and stability, well-being in the region. “Signing of the agreement on creation of the transport and transit corridor, which will link Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Iran with Middle East and other countries, is historic event and it has great future.”

The sides expressed assurance that relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will develop further for well-being of two nations.
