Uzbekistan 07/01/2008 Turkey should cooperate with SCO - report
Turkey, with its geostrategic significance, stands in a critical point that will determine its position in the world. Turkey, which is forced for privileged partnership in EU, has also different alternatives in the region. In his speech in the conference named "SCO and Turkey", Vice chancellor of (KOU) Prof.Dr.Comak affirmed that "SCO is an mutual-security organization which was founded in 26 April 2001 by the leaders of Republic of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan for the purpose of build mutual credence, not to menace safety for each other. An agreement has been signed to improve safety around the military area in border zone.

Prof.Dr. Çomak stated that this agreement flavors regional safety mechanism thanks to it’s clauses such as decreasing the size and frequency of the military maneuvers, not to proceed by military actions, mutual information change related to programmed military operations 100 km wide around border zones, Gozlem Gazetasi (Turkey) reported.

Prof.Dr. Çomak said that with this agreement, member nations are cooperating against nuclear coercion in South Asia, security, stability, common welfare, discrimination, religious radicalism, global terrorism, illegal drug and arm traffic, illegal immigration and continuing denuclearize attempts of Middle Asia region. Turkey should evaluate info data in order to participate to SCO and determine an appropriate policy, create an efficient, solid business alliance and promote strategic research centers. The national interests of Turkey and SCO can compromise in all aspects; create important advantage and substantial contribution to peace and security.

Prof. Dr. Çomak declared that Turkey is a country facing the danger of nuclear weapon. In the context of "Turkey - SCO", new economic, business and cultural relations should be established. Turkey’s economy should be reviewed pursuant to the competency based advantage. Scientific data should be determined based on an appropriate policy related to Shanghai Cooperation organization.

Dr. Çomak pointed out the necessity of market expansion, creating new opportunities for infrastructural investments and continuous initiatives for common investments to help the members of Organization. Dr. Çomak asserted that profitable bilateral relations should be established and developed based on trust, historical and cultural connections. Emphasizing the vitality of bilateral economical and cultural relations with Shanghai Cooperation Organization members Prof.

Dr. Çomak added; "Turkey should carefully review the principals and projects of nuclear technology and nuclear power producing to safeguard the world peace. Turkey should cooperate with Shanghai Cooperation Organization to maintain global and regional defense and security while attempting Nato’s update for nuclear politics and plans."
