Turkey launches Healthy Tourism Certificate Program

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey launched the “Certificate of Healthy Tourism” program. This program, which comes into force at the beginning of the summer season of 2020, includes large-scale measures to ensure the safety of the health of tourism workers and guests of the country, their transportation and living conditions, Dunyo reported.

The program will be implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey in cooperation with the Ministries of Internal and Foreign Affairs, as well as the main participants in the tourism industry. In accordance with the program, tourism organizations will exercise strict control over the implementation in practice of measures to ensure the health of public servants and guests of the country, as well as the safe transportation and accommodation of tourists.

This certificate, provided by international certification bodies, will confirm compliance with high standards of ensuring health and labor hygiene in airlines, airports and other vehicles, accommodation systems and catering outlets.

According to the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, the country’s healthcare system continues to function quite successfully during the COVID-19 pandemic. Turkey has established itself as a "wellness base", the services of which are used by patients from different countries, including in the fight against a new type of coronavirus disease. Appropriate certification and its implementation will allow the country to gain leadership in the field of tourism.

“Today, quarantine conditions are being softened all over the world. Tourism plays an important role in bringing people back to their usual way of life, ”says Mehmet Nuri Ersoy.

In Turkey, this certification program is seen as a guarantee of a safe and clean holiday for guests, ensuring all amenities for them.

The launched program will be implemented in such areas as "Safety and Health of Passengers", "Safety and Health of Employees", "Precautions at the Facilities" and "Precautions in the Field of Transport".

“Safety and health of passengers” - involves the application of precautionary measures for tourists from the moment they arrive in the country until their departure. In accordance with the rules, it will be forbidden to enter the airport terminal without masks, thermal imagers measuring body temperature will be used at the entrance to airports and train stations, and disinfectants will process them in the cabs.

“Safety and health of employees” - a set of measures to ensure the physical and moral health of transport workers, hotels and catering facilities. In particular, mandatory requirements are established for conducting educational and hygienic trainings for employees, providing them with hygiene / medical facilities, and installing chambers for measuring their body temperature. In the course of optimally planned rest of the employees, it was established that measures should be taken for their medical examination, protection of their health, and conducting exercises on personal and household hygiene.

“Precautions at the sites” - provide a set of measures to prevent the spread of the epidemic. Special measures have been developed for their introduction at public catering, accommodation and recreation facilities in order to prevent the spread of infection. These activities are clearly defined in the certification program. So, to prevent the spread of infection between tourism workers and guests of the country, the implementation of measures such as maintaining social distance, reducing external relations, isolation will be monitored.

"Transport Precautions" is a set of measures used in air, land and sea transport. In this direction, trainings for employees will be carried out, their health will be checked, disinfection of vehicles will be carried out, and the optimal seating of passengers during transportation will be organized, taking into account the observance of social distance.

As Minister M. Ersoy notes, on 4 May, organizational measures were completed in the country to certify the international airport, domestic flights, highways and tourist facilities. Thus, the certification procedure for hotels has begun this month, and from June 1, a list of objects that have passed certification will be published in the media.
