Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 15 August to 8 September 2019, 10 triathletes from Uzbekistan passed training camps in the city of Font Romeu (France). Under the leadership of the coach of the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan Viktor Zemtsev, the triathletes had a special preparatory program before participating in the upcoming competitions.
It is worth noting that high-altitude training is an important part of training programs before important starts. In September, athletes are expected to compete in the city of Aqaba (Jordan, on 26-27 September), as well as the final stage of the Uzbekistan Cup, which will be held on 29 September in Samarkand.
Font Romeu is one of the oldest and most popular ski cities in the Pyrenees. The Font Romeu National High Altitude Training Center (1,850 meters above sea level) was opened in 1967 to allow athletes to conduct their training camp in preparation for the Olympic Games in Mexico.
World-class athletes train annually at the training center, as well as teams from international sports federations who strive to add cross-height training to their program.
It is noteworthy that during one of the bike trainings, four-time world champion and two-time Olympic champion Alistair Brownley helped a triathlete from Uzbekistan, an international class master of sports, winner of the Asian Cup, Shokhrukh Yunusov. This was reported by Shohruh Yunusov on his Instagram page.
“Alistair Brownley, thank you for saving me from a puncture. You helped me out when I was in a difficult position, since I didn’t have a pump nearby to pump the wheel. Thank you for not denying me help. Dear Alistair, Respect to you! I wish you only victorious starts! ”- writes triathlete Shohrukh Yunusov.
