Traffic restrictions introduced on several streets in Uzbekistan for Navruz celebrations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In connection with the celebration of Navruz, traffic restrictions will be temporarily implemented on several streets across Uzbekistan, according to Muziya Sultonova, Head of the Information Service of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

To facilitate movement, alternative detour routes will be arranged for citizens.

Navruz, one of Uzbekistan’s most significant national holidays, embodies centuries-old traditions, rich culture, and the country’s historical heritage. This year’s celebrations will take place under the motto “May Your Values Be Eternal, Navruz!”

In accordance with resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers, law enforcement agencies will implement a range of measures to ensure public order and safety during the festivities. More than 200 celebration venues have been designated nationwide.

To maintain security, personnel from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as military personnel, medical teams, and public representatives, will be mobilized. Before the events, experts will conduct thorough safety inspections of venues.

At celebration sites, the following security measures will be in place:

Over 600 security checkpoints

Dedicated psychological support rooms

More than 140 mobile toilets

All public gathering areas will be equipped with video surveillance systems integrated with the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Monitoring Center. For security purposes, event areas will be fully cordoned off, and parking will be set up at least 150 meters away from the venues, with law enforcement overseeing their operation.

If necessary, traffic restrictions will be enforced on certain streets and roads, with detour routes available for motorists.

Additionally, strict control is being exercised over amusement rides and technical equipment. The use of faulty attractions and unsafe play areas is strictly prohibited. Local authorities, medical services, and other relevant agencies will be on standby at all event locations.

Public utility services responsible for electricity, gas, water supply, and sanitation will operate in high-alert mode, ensuring round-the-clock duty throughout the holiday period.

In Tashkent, as well as in major cities and district centers, additional security measures have been implemented around markets, shopping complexes, and fairs to maintain public order and ensure road safety.
