Trade and service enterprises cannot work without POS-terminals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Enterprises of retail trade and paid services are banned to carry out operations without installation of POS-terminals to accept payments from population with use of banking cards from 1 March 2017.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures on further improving money circulation and development of settlements with use of banking cards” on 15 February 2017.

President entrusted State Tax Committee in cooperation with the banks, Uzbekistan Banking Association Common Republican Processing Centre (CRPC) conduct inventory of retail trade and service points objects to check if they have POS-terminals.

Mirziyoyev ordered to provide POS-terminals to those shops and service points, who did not install them, in short period and provide, if necessary, technical means to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

The document said that it is violation of use POS-terminals if the sellers set various prices for goods and services based on type of payment – cash or banking card. Such violations will be punished with the fine at the size of 30 sizes of minimal salary.

The resolution noted that inspection on artificial rise or decrease of prices, use of cash machines and POS-terminals, issue of cheques by sellers, and timely submission of revenues to the banks will not considered as tax inspection and will not require permission of the Republican Council on coordination of the activities of controlling bodies.

Uzbek President entrusted the Central Bank to develop modern mechanisms of short-term consumer crediting with the use of banking cards. The decision is directed at stimulating consumer demand and production activities of the businesses, as well as development of cashless payments.
