Trade and logistics complex of Wildberries to be built in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 November, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev received the founders of the largest international marketplace Wildberries - Vladislav and Tatyana Bakalchuk.

The meeting was also attended by the top management of the Russian company and the heads of relevant ministries and departments of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, a qualitative shift was noted in the structure of commodity groups of mutual trade with the Russian Federation, 70% of which are goods with high added value. An increase in demand in the e-commerce market was announced, the volume of which in Uzbekistan should reach US$1 billion by the end of the year, which is due to the available Internet and the base of active users of young age in Uzbekistan.

The prospects for organizing the company’s logistics complex in Uzbekistan for the sale of finished Uzbek products through the marketplace were discussed. An agreement was reached to create a full-fledged Wildberries logistics complex in Tashkent, as well as a sorting center with a “single window” service for customs and certification authorities to simplify the procedures for registering goods. The total cost of the project will be US$130 million, due to which 5,000 jobs will be created from the moment the project is put into operation.

In this context, the readiness was expressed for the organization of supplies by Uzbek manufacturers for trade on the marketplace of textile products for more than US$900 million, leather products for US$121.5 million, building materials for US$172.2 million, electrical household products for US$382.5 million at the first stage.

As part of the project, the company will provide the opportunity to register entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan as sellers, conduct online seminars for Uzbek manufacturers in Uzbek and Russian in order to learn how to work on an electronic platform and trade their goods, and also launch a factory to create new Uzbek brands, where marketing research, market analysis and development of relevant brands will be carried out.

Wildberries was founded in 2004 and today is the largest online hypermarket of a universal format. The marketplace presents global brands of clothing, footwear, electronics, children’s goods and household goods.
