Tourist boom in Uzbekistan: Number of foreign guests hits record highs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan continues to attract an increasing number of tourists from various parts of the world. From January to August 2024, the country was visited by 5,040,500 foreign citizens for tourism purposes, which is 16.7% more than in the same period last year, according to the State Statistics Committee.

The growth in tourist traffic is attributed to several factors, including the development of tourism infrastructure, active promotion of Uzbekistan at the international level, simplification of the visa regime, and the emergence of new tourist routes.

Historical cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, as well as mountainous areas and picturesque valleys, are especially popular. Tourists are drawn to Uzbekistan’s rich history and culture, its architectural monuments, the hospitality of the local population, delicious cuisine, and affordable prices.

The majority of tourists came from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, with over 1.4 million visitors each. They are followed by Kazakhstan and Russia, with 1,022,000 and 535,100 visitors, respectively.

Additionally, citizens from Turkmenistan (102,900), Turkey (72,900), China (42,000), India (39,100), South Korea (28,200), Italy (25,200), and other countries (251,300) also visited our country.
