The programme was approved with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On programme of development of tourism sphere in Tashkent region for 2013-2015” from 20 September 2013.
The resolution was adopted in order to develop and raise efficiency of use of tourism potential of the region, familiarize local and foreign tourists with historic-cultural heritage of the region, improve conditions for rest and tourism through improving transport-communication infrastructure at Chimgan-Charvak recreation zone, creating new routes, etc.
The programme includes 34 projects with total cost of US$77.8 million. Local enterprises and organizations will invest US$42.714 million to implementation of the project. Total loans of commercial banks will make up US$26.376 million, foreign investments – US$5.65 million and the state budget – US$3.055 million.
In particular, the programme includes projects on developing tourism infrastructure, measures on presentation of tourism potential, improvement state of tourism infrastructure objects, as well as training of specialists.
The programme said that some US$55.149 million will be directed to construction and reconstruction of hotels and other tourism infrastructure. It is also planned to install road signs, maps, and information stands.
Within the programme it is planned to open new transport routes, purchase buses and cars to render services to tourists, create toilet, medical service points along the roads.
Till the end of 2015, it is planned to improve infrastructure of Sumcha recreation zone in Parkent district, reconstruction swimming pool and improve territory around the zone, reconstruct hotel complex for 220 places, and construct cottages for 50 places.
It is planned to organize presentation of tourism potential of the region via organization of info-tours for foreign mass media and tour operators.
The programme also includes measures on improving communication infrastructure, including fixed and mobile communication with creation of Wi-Fi zones.
Central Bank and commercial banks will adopt measures on expanding network of ATMs, infokiosks, POS-terminals at objects of tourism infrastructure, stations, hotels, motels, camping, etc.
The resolution also approved a list of research, conservation, restoration and improving state of historic-cultural objects in Tashkent region in 2014-2015. The list includes 15 projects with total estimated cost of US$3.035 million and they will be financed due resources of the State Budget of Uzbekistan.
In the result of the implementation of projects of the programme, the volume of tourism services in Tashkent region will increase 1.7 times compared to 2012 to 37.4 billion soums in 2015.
It is expected that the volume of exported tourism services will grow by 1.5 times – from US$253,800 in 2012 to US$372,500 in 2015.
Number of tourists will rise from 51,200 to 69,600 people (+1.4 times), including foreign tourists – from 6,300 to 7,800 people (+1.2 times).
Number of hotels in Tashkent region will double from 31 to 58 units, and number of places in them will grow from 1,317 to 2,831 units (+2.1 times).
