Tourism as an Economic Driver

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan is actively working to elevate tourism to a strategic level in the nation’s economy. The committee aims to diversify domestic tourism services, significantly increase their volume, and create favorable conditions for citizens to explore the country’s tourism potential.

Efforts also focus on improving the quality and global competitiveness of tourism services, creating additional opportunities for entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, developing modern infrastructure, and supporting employment and income growth.

In recent months, several projects have been launched in collaboration with international and local media companies and online platforms to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential abroad and boost domestic tourism.

Notably, Uzbekistan’s tourism is now being promoted on the Chinese platform "Ctrip.com." The French company "Voyage Prive" has also started organizing PR campaigns in France, Italy, Spain, and the UK, further promoting Uzbekistan as a tourist destination.

In Germany, Uzbekistan has partnered with "World Media" to showcase the country’s hospitality and attractions through innovative video content. The German TV platform Sky One will broadcast an exclusive travel show, "Blue Sky," hosted by renowned German travel presenter Kay Pätzmann.

Moreover, joint projects with major international platforms like the BBC, Euronews, and the American platform "Amadeus," alongside China’s "Trip.com," are ongoing, with an audience reach exceeding 2.5 billion people worldwide.

Uzbekistan has also secured collaborations with companies like the UAE’s "Holiday Factory" and "VFS Global" for tourism promotion. Additionally, agreements with "Numa GmbH" aim to promote Uzbekistan in Central Europe (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) as part of the "Best in Travel 2024" project by Lonely Planet.

To further boost tourism, Uzbekistan’s diplomatic missions in 28 countries have received funds to promote the country’s tourism potential. National tourism stands and businesses have participated in 14 international tourism fairs in the last 10 months. Cultural events were organized in the UK, Malaysia, and Tajikistan, alongside presentations on Uzbekistan’s gastronomic tourism.

Uzbekistan’s strategic approach to tourism development, combined with substantial investments in infrastructure, promotion, and marketing, is positioning the industry as a key driver of national prosperity.
