Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Ankara has organized a meeting in the Turkish region of Hatay, Dunyo news agency reported.

During meetings in the city municipality, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as the Association of Business People of the region, a presentation of the investment and tourism potential of Uzbekistan was held. Meetings and negotiations were held with representatives of the leadership and business circles of this province. Representatives of the Turkish side highly appreciated the deep changes being carried out in Uzbekistan, the dynamic development of bilateral relations, showed interest in establishing direct, mutually beneficial cooperation.

In particular, the mayor of Antakya city Lutfi Savash noted that the peoples of Uzbekistan and Turkey are closely related to each other by a common deep historical roots, national and spiritual values. The mayor separately pointed out that the residents of Antakya treat Uzbekistan with special love and respect, considering it an integral part of their own identity. According to him, several thousand citizens here come from Turkestan and are inextricably linked with Uzbekistan by historical, cultural and family ties.

As part of the meetings in the municipality, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the region, the Turkish side was given a list of promising investment projects to assist in attracting potential Turkish companies in sectors such as tourism, textiles, pharmaceuticals, leather and footwear production, agro-industry. In addition, detailed information was provided on the conditions and benefits provided for foreign investors, brochures on Free Economic Zones and tourism opportunities in Uzbekistan were distributed.

An agreement was reached on holding additional meetings with entrepreneurs of Hatay at the embassy in the near future and organizing a visit of their delegation to Uzbekistan during the period of normalization of the epidemiological situation in the world and in both countries.

Governor Hatay Rahmi Dogan proposed to organize a separate stand for Uzbekistan within the framework of the International Exhibition "Expo - 2021 Hatay", which will be held next year, to jointly conduct an advertising and propaganda campaign on opportunities in the field of tourism, including by placing posters and advertisements in Antakya. boards about "ziyorat tourism" to our country and travels from Uzbekistan to Turkey, as well as regularly organize educational, tourist and business trips of representatives of Hatay to Uzbekistan.

The Governor noted that he is sincerely pleased that the economy of Uzbekistan is showing dynamics, despite the negative consequences of the global pandemic COVID-19, and the people of the country are looking to the future with confidence. “We are interested in strengthening and expanding constructive, mutually beneficial relations with Uzbekistan, which plays a special role not only in Central Asia, but also in the wider Turkic world,” the governor said.
