The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on improving order of licensing and carrying out tourism activity” on 13 March 2014. The document allowed tour guides to provide excursion services without forming legal entity.
The tour guides are important branch of tourism sector as they help to familiarize with country, history and culture. High skilled tour guides will ensure that tourists form positive impression about the country.
The resolution allows tour guides to provide service of excursion after their registration as individual entrepreneur without forming legal entity. This will allow them to obtain a corresponding license.
The document determines legal status of the guides and will protect their rights. Currently, tour guides are working individually without any registration or in line with agreement with tour firms. This will prevent violation of tour guides, including payment of services and terms of works. Administrations of cultural heritage objects can ban them from entering to such objects.
In line with the resolutions, the guides should undergo mandatory training at Educational Center under Uzbektourim to obtain necessary skills to work with tourists.
