Total income of Uzbek population reaches 78.9 trillion soums

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to preliminary data, in January-March 2020, the total amount of total income of Uzbekistan’s population reached 78.9 trillion soums. The nominal growth rate of the total income of the population reached 22.5%, according to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee.

Total income per capita reached 2.3 million soums, nominal growth rate - 20.1%.

In order to exclude the influence of price factors for calculating the real growth rate of household incomes, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is used - one of the important types of inflation indicator. Due to changes in consumer prices, the growth rate of the aggregate income of the population, compared to the same period in 2019, reached 107.6% in real terms. In January-March 2020, the real growth rate of total income per capita reached 105.6%

The average nominal total income per capita of the population above the national average was recorded in Tashkent city – 5.82 million soums, Navoi – 3.69 million soums, Bukhara – 2.62 million soums and Tashkent – 2.53 million soums.

A very high indicator of real growth in total income per capita was recorded in Navoi region - 11.1%. Also in Jizzakh - 7.4%, Surkhandarya - 7.1%, Namangan - 7.0%, Samarkand - 6.2%, Ferghana - 5.8% and Khorezm - 5.7% regions the average income per capita exceeds the average republican level.

Significant changes in the total income of the population are mainly facilitated by significant changes in income from labor activity (income of employees and self-employment), which account for 66.0% of total income and 25.3% are income from transfers.

In the total income of the regions, the largest share of income from labor activity (income of employees and income from self-employment) was observed in Navoi region (81.2%). On the contrary, in the city of Tashkent, Samarkand, Namangan, Khorezm, Surkhandarya, Andijan, Kashkadarya regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, it was below the average republican level.

Also, in Samarkand, Andijan, Surkhandarya regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the share of transfer income reached more than 30% of the total income of the population.

Income from labor activities (income of employees and income from self-employment) have a significant weight in the structure of total income of the population.

According to preliminary data for January-March 2020, the share of labor income in the structure of total income of the population was 66.0%.

The nominal income growth rate in relation to the corresponding period of 2019 reached 23.1% and contributed to the growth of the nominal total income in the order of 15.2%.

Labor income consists of the income of employees and from the self-employed population.

In January-March 2020, the share of total income of employees among the population was 33.4%. The growth rate of their income in the past period reached 25.6%, which ensured an increase in the nominal income of the population by 8.3%.

The highest nominal growth rates of employees were recorded in Tashkent city (35.0%), Navoi (31.5%) and Surkhandarya (26.8%) regions.

The share of self-employment income in total income by region varies from 13.3% (in Tashkent city) to 48.5% (in Jizzakh region).

With an increase in income from self-employment by 1%, the total amount of total income increases by 0.33%.

The largest share of income from self-employment was recorded in Samarkand (11.8%), Tashkent (11.6%) and Ferghana (8.9%) regions. The regions with the lowest share are Syrdarya region (2.5%), the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.4%) and Navoi (4.9%) region.

The effect of property income on the change in the total population income is insignificant. In the past period, these incomes contributed to the growth of total income in the order of 2.0%.

Two-thirds of the volume of property income received in January-March 2020 fell to the share of Tashkent city - 71.7%. The next regions with significant weight are Tashkent (6.2%), Samarkand (4.1%) and Namangan (3.8%) regions.

The nominal growth rate of property income, according to preliminary data for January-March 2020 to the corresponding period of the previous year, reached 37.9%. The highest growth rates were observed in the Namangan region - 45.9%.

The share of transfers in the total income of the population decreased by 1.0 percentage points and reached 25.3%.

Social transfers, in turn, include pensions, allowances and scholarships. According to preliminary data for January-March 2020, 48.4% of income from transfers came from social transfers, 51.6% - from other current transfers. Changes in pensions, allowances and scholarships over the past period contributed to an increase in the total income of the population by 2.6 %.

The share of pensions in the total volume of social transfers reached 82.2%, allowances - 15.4%, scholarships - 2.4%.

Compared with the corresponding period of 2019, the growth rate of pensions reached 20.3%, allowances - 39.9%.

In January-March 2020, allowances and material assistance of 1.5 trillion soums were allocated for social support of the population. Of these, 56.2% of insurance benefits were funded by the extrabudget funds.

The nominal growth rate of remittances from abroad, which are part of other current transfers, in January-March 2020 reached 15.6%, and their share, compared to the same period last year, in the total income of the population increased by 0.7 p.p. and reached 13.1%, the change in income from other current transfers ensured an increase in the nominal value of the total income of the population by 2.2%.

The largest share of remittances in the total income of the population was recorded in the Samarkand region (19.8%). It was also high in Andijan (18.7%), Surkhandarya (18.0%), Khorezm (17.9%), Namangan (15.7%), Kashkadarya (14.9%), Bukhara (14.7%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (14.4%) and Ferghana (13.7%) region.

According to preliminary data for January-March 2020, the share of income received from small businesses reached 53.6% of the total population income. So, in the structure of the total income of the regions it differs: the highest share is recorded in the Jizzakh region - 62.0%.

The smallest share of income received from small business was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 43.5%, as well as in Navoi region - 44.2%.
