Total income of population of Uzbekistan reaches 286.3 trillion soums in 2018

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In January-December 2018, the total aggregate income of the population of Uzbekistan amounted to 286.3 trillion soums, which, per person, is on average equal to 8.7 million soums.

Real incomes characterize nominal incomes, taking into account changes in retail prices and tariffs, representing the real purchasing power of people with nominal incomes.

Due to the change in consumer prices, the growth rate of the aggregate income of the population, compared to the same period of last year, was 10.3% in real terms, and per capita income was 8.4%.

The average per capita nominal aggregate income of the population was higher than the average republican value in Tashkent - 16.26 million soums, Navoi region - 13.58 million soums, Bukhara region - 10.82 million soums, Khorezm region - 9.14 million soums and Tashkent region - 9.07 million soums. The lowest indicator of the average per capita nominal aggregate income of the population was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 6.31 million soums and Namangan region - 6.8 million soums.

A very high rate of real growth in per capita total income was recorded in Surkhandarya and Khorezm regions - 11.3%. Also in Jizzakh region - 11.1%, Bukhara region - 9.9%, the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 9.5%, Ferghana region - 9.2%, Navoi region - 8.8% and Samarkand region - 8.5% exceed per capita income average republican level.

Significant growth in total aggregate income of the population is mainly due to significant changes in income from employment (incomes of employees and from self-employment), which account for 71.1% of total income and 23.5% are income from transfers.

In the total income of the regions, the largest share of income received from labor activity (incomes of employees and income from self-employment) was observed in Navoi region (84.2%). On the contrary, in the city of Tashkent, Khorezm, Samarkand, Namangan, Ferghana, Andijan regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, it is below the national average.

Also in Khorezm region, the share of income from transfers amounted to more than 30% of the total income of the population.

The next main source of income from employment is income from self-employment of the population.

In January-December 2018, the nominal growth rate of income of the population from self-employment amounted to 26.0%. In the total volume of total income of the population, this source of income is significant and its share is 44.8%.

The share of income from self-employment in total income in the regions varies from 17.4% (in the city of Tashkent) to 61.7% (in Jizzakh region). More than 50% of the share of income from self-employment was recorded in Bukhara (52.2%), Surkhandarya (52.0%), Andijan, Syrdarya (50.5%) and Samarkand (50.3%) regions.

Revenues from self-employment in terms of their share also have a significant impact on the total income of the population. So, with the growth of income from self-employment by 1%, the total volume of total income increases by 0.46%. Meanwhile, the share of income from self-employment in the structure of aggregate income of the population and high growth rates have a large impact on the growth of gross income.

In Jizzakh region, the share of income derived from self-employment in the total volume of total income of the population was 61.7%, while the nominal growth rate reached 33.2% compared with the corresponding period of last year. Only the same incomes led to an increase in total income in the Jizzakh region by 20.3%.

Similarly, in Surkhandarya region, a 52.0% share and a 29.1% growth rate ensured a 15.7% growth rate of the total income of the population.

The nominal growth rate of income from transfers, according to preliminary data for January-December 2018 over the corresponding period of the previous year, was 46.2%.

Along with this, the share of transfers in the total volume of the aggregate income of the population increased by 2.6 percentage points over the same period and amounted to 23.5%.

Changes over the past period of pensions, allowances and scholarships contributed to the growth of the total volume of total income of the population by 2.3%.

The growth of social transfers is mainly influenced by pensions, which account for 82.8% of their total volume.

In January-December 2019, 3.3 trillion soums were allocated for social support, benefits and material assistance. Of these, 52.3% of benefits were financed due to extra-budgetary Pension Fund, and 47.7% were allocated from the republican and local budget.

The nominal growth rate of remittances from abroad, which are part of other current transfers in January-December 2018, amounted to 64.6%, and their share, as compared with the same period of last year, in the total income of the population increased by 3%. This change in income provided an increase in the nominal value of the total income of the population by 7.3%.

According to preliminary data for January-December 2018, of the total aggregate income of the population, the share of income received from small businesses was 62.6%.

The share of income from small businesses in the total aggregate income of the population varies by region: the largest amount falls on Jizzakh region -73.2%, the smallest on Tashkent city - 51.7%.
