Total aggregate income of the population reached 176.0 trillion soums in January-June 2020

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Total aggregate income of the population reached 176.0 trillion soums in January-June 2020, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The average nominal total income of the population per capita above the national average was recorded in Tashkent city – 10.53 million soums, Navoi – 8.31 million soums, Bukhara – 6.46 million soums and Tashkent region – 5.58 million soums.

According to the press service of the State Statistics Committee, the lowest indicator of the average per capita nominal total income of the population was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan – 3.85 million soums, as well as in Namangan – 3.92 million soums and Ferghana – 4 million soums.

In the context of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, the indicator of real growth in total income per capita has significantly decreased.

The highest indicator was recorded in Navoi - 5.2% and Jizzakh - 4.1% regions.

A decrease in real total income per capita was observed in the city of Tashkent - 4.8%, as well as in Andijan - 1.5%, Kashkadarya - 1.2%, Ferghana - 0.7% and Syrdarya - 0.6%.

A significant increase in the total income of the population is mainly driven by significant changes in income from labor activity (income of employees and income from self-employment), which account for 69.4% of total income and 24.8% is income from transfers.

In the total income of the regions, the largest share of income received from labor activity (income of employees and income from self-employment) was observed in Navoi region (82.9%). On the contrary, in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Samarkand, Khorezm, Namangan, Ferghana, Andijan, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya regions and the city of Tashkent, it was below the national average.

Also in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Samarkand and Khorezm regions, the share of income from transfers made up more than 30% of the total income of the population.

In January-June 2020, the share of the total income of employees among the population amounted to 30.2%. The growth rates of their incomes in the past period reached 117.4%, which ensured an increase in the nominal income of the population by 5.2%.

The highest nominal growth rates of wage earners’ incomes were noted in Navoi (+23.8%), Ferghana (+22.5%), Andijan and Jizzakh (+21.6%) regions.

The share of income from self-employment in total income varies by region and varies from 13.5% (in Tashkent city) to 52.7% (in Jizzakh region).

With an increase in income from self-employment by 1%, total gross income increases by 0.40%.

The largest share of income from self-employment was noted in Samarkand (11.0%), Tashkent (10.7%) and Kashkadarya (9.7%) regions. The regions with the lowest share are Syrdarya region (2.4%), the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.0%) and Jizzakh (4.7%) region.

The share of transfers in the total aggregate income of the population for the specified period was 24.8%. Social transfers, in turn, include pensions, benefits and scholarships. According to preliminary data for January-June 2020, 45.3% of income from transfers came from income from social transfers, 54.7% of income from other current transfers. Changes over the past period in pensions, benefits and scholarships contributed to the growth of the total aggregate income of the population by 2.6%.

Compared to the corresponding period of 2019, the growth rate of pensions was 22.4%, benefits - 48.1%.

In January-June 2020, 3.2 trillion soums were allocated for social support of the population, as benefits and material assistance. Of these, the off-budget Pension Fund financed 53.0% of insurance benefits, 47.0% was allocated from the republican and local budgets.

According to preliminary data for January-June 2020, out of the total volume of the total income of the population, the share of income received from small businesses amounted to 57.2%.

So, in the structure of the aggregate income of the regions, it differs: the highest share was recorded in Jizzakh region -65.1%. The smallest share of income received from small entrepreneurship, recorded in the city of Tashkent - 46.1% and the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 47.0%, as well as in the Navoi region - 48.8%.
