Total aggregate income of the population of Uzbekistan reached 405.1 trillion soums in 2020

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to preliminary data, in January-December 2020, the total aggregate income of the population of Uzbekistan reached 405.1 trillion soums, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. 

In order to exclude the influence of price factors for calculating the real growth rates of household income, the consumer price index (CPI) is used - one of the important types of inflation indicator. Due to changes in consumer prices, the growth rate of the total income of the population, compared to the same period in 2019, in real terms made up 102.6%.

In January-December 2020 (for twelve months), the average per capita nominal total income of the population was higher than the national average value in Tashkent city - 23 563.1 thousand soums, Navoi - 19 200.2 thousand soums, Bukhara - 14 474.0 thousand soums, Tashkent region - 12 565.3 thousand soums and Khorezm region - 12 023.0 thousand soums

In January-December 2020 (for twelve months), the lowest indicator of the average per capita nominal total income of the population was recorded in the Ferghana region - 8 728.1 thousand soums, as well as in the Namangan region - 9 049.3 thousand soums and the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 9 159.8 thousand soums.

The indicator of real growth of total income per capita in January-December 2020 made up 100.7%, the same indicator for JanuaryDecember 2019 was significantly higher105.0%.

The highest indicator of real growth rates was recorded in the Navoi region - 6.0%, the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 4.0%, Samarkand - 3.7% and Tashkent - 3.4% regions. A decrease in real aggregate income per capita was observed in the following regions: Syrdarya - 2.4%, Andijan - 2.2%, Ferghana - 1.7% regions and Tashkent city - 1.2%.

A significant increase in the total volume of total income of the population is mainly driven by significant changes in income from labor activity (income of employees and income from self-employment), which account for 69.3% of total income and 25.5% is income from transfers

In the total income of the regions, the largest share of income received from labor activity (income of employees and income from selfemployment) was observed in the Navoi region (83.1%). On the contrary, in the Samarkand, Khorezm regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the Surkhandarya, Ferghana, Namangan, Andijan, Kashkadarya regions and the city of Tashkent, it was below the average republican level.

Income from labor activity (income of employees and income from selfemployment) has a significant weight in the structure of the total income of the population.

According to preliminary data for JanuaryDecember 2020, the share of income from labor activity in the structure of the total income of the population was 69.3%.

The nominal growth rate of income in relation to the corresponding period of 2019 reached 115.1% and contributed to an increase in the nominal volume of total income in the order of 10.5%.

Labor income consists of income from employees and from the self-employed population.

In January-December 2020, the share of the total income of employees among the population was 28.8%. The growth rates of their income in the past period reached 116.3%, which ensured an increase in the nominal income of the population by 4.6%.

The highest nominal growth rates of wage earners’ incomes were observed in the city of Tashkent (126.3%), also in Navoi (122.3%), Tashkent (116.6%), Bukhara (114.5%) and Andijan (113.6 %) regions.

In the total income of the regions, the largest share of income received from self-employment was observed in the Jizzakh region (58.0%). In contrast, in the city of Tashkent and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, it was below the average republican level.

The largest share of income from self-employment was noted in Samarkand (11.2%), Tashkent (10.3%), Andijan (9.7%) and Kashkadarya (9.6%) regions. The regions with the lowest share are Syrdarya region (2.5%), the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.6%), Navoi region (5.1%) and the city of Tashkent (5.2%).

The influence of income from property on the change in the total volume of the total income of the population is insignificant. Thus, in the period under review, they contributed to an increase in the total volume of total income in the order of 0.7%.

Two-thirds of the volume of property income received in January-December 2020 fell to the share of Tashkent city - 57.4%. The next regions with significant weight are Tashkent (8.7%), Ferghana (5.0%) and Samarkand (4.6%) regions.

The nominal growth  rate of income from property, according to preliminary data for January-December 2020 over the corresponding period of 2019, made up 23.6%. The highest growth rates were noted in the Jizzakh region - 51.7% and the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 48.7%.

The share of transfers in the total aggregate income of the population for the specified period made up 25.5%.  Social transfers, in turn, include pensions, benefits and scholarships. According to preliminary data for JanuaryDecember 2020, 40.8% of income from transfers came from income from social transfers, 59.2% of income from other current transfers. Changes over the past period in pensions, benefits and scholarships contributed to the growth of the total aggregate income of the population by 2.3%.

Compared to the corresponding period of 2019, the growth rate of pensions in the period under review was 21.3%, benefits - 51.9%.

The share of pensions in the total volume of social transfers was 81.5%, benefits - 16.6%, scholarships - 1.9%.

In January-December 2020, 6.9 trillion soums of benefits and material assistance were allocated for social support of the population. Of these, 53.0% of insurance benefits were financed by the off-budget Pension Fund, 47.0% was allocated from the republican and local budgets.

The nominal growth rates of remittances from abroad, which are part of other current transfers, in January-December 2020 made up 14.1%, and their share, compared to the same period in 2019, in the total income of the population decreased by 0.2 p.p., the change in income from other current transfers ensured an increase in the nominal value of the total income of the population by 2.2%.

The largest share of remittances in the total income of the population is registered in Samarkand (23.1%) and Khorezm (22.7%) regions. It was also high in Surkhandarya (20.1%), Andijan (20.0%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (18.6%), Namangan (16.9%), Kashkadarya (16.7%), Ferghana (16.3%) and Bukhara (15.8%) regions.

According to preliminary data for January-December 2020, the share of income received from small businesses out of the total volume of total income of the population made up 58.0%.

Thus, in the structure of the aggregate income of the regions, it differs: the highest share is noted in the Jizzakh region - 68.8%. The smallest share of income received from small business was recorded in the city of Tashkent - 44.0%, the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 50.7%, as well as in Navoi - 51.9% and Ferghana - 57.0%.
