Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On the final day of the 25th Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road”, an Agreement on interaction and cooperation in the field of tourism was signed between the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development and the Korean Academic Tourism and Leisure Society “KASTLE”.
Korea Academic Society of Tourism and Leisure (KASTLE) has been contributing to the development of Korea’s national tourism policy through academic activities, that is, scientific research related to tourism development. The company holds regular scientific forums on the development of regional tourism, academic conferences, assistance to higher education institutions in Korea under the student exchange and training program, and further training of workers in the tourism sector.
The parties reached an agreement to popularize the tourism potential and historical and cultural values of the Republic of Uzbekistan in South Korea, to provide information in the field of tourism for the use of the State Committee for Tourism to attract tourism organizations and representatives of the tourism industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at conferences, seminars, symposiums , exhibitions, fairs, tourism festivals held in South Korea to assist in attracting organizations undertaken and entrepreneurs of South Korea to implement investment projects and programs in the tourism sector in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties agreed that the Korean side will provide office space (total area 288 m2) in Seoul on a free basis for the first year so that in subsequent years it will become self-sustaining due to joint projects to attract Korean tourism companies to the tourist market of Uzbekistan , including members of the KASTLE association.

On 15 August 2019, a delegation of the KASTLE Korean Academic Tourism and Leisure Society paid a business visit to Uzbekistan and a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the State Committee and the KASTLE Korean Academic Tourism and Leisure Society in the building of the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan .
According to the chairman of the Korean Academic Tourism Society, Mr. Ji Ki Yong, the Korean government is interested in expanding and strengthening cooperation with developing countries. “It was after the official visit of the President of Korea Moon Jae-in to Uzbekistan in April this year and a meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev that we realized that Uzbekistan is the most promising area for cooperation in the field of investment. Uzbekistan for us is an open field for doing business and a country that has tremendous potential in the tourism sector. ”
