Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Three people have been sentenced to long prison terms in eastern Uzbekistan for drug trafficking, said the Na Postu newspaper on 8 August.

It said that two parcels with heroin were seized from three residents of eastern Andijan Region’s Shahrihon town: Rasuljon Kh., Nazirjon K. and Bakhtiyor T., while they were travelling by car on the Shahrihon-Fargona highway. They had bought the parcels from Muzaffar U., resident of Margilon town in eastern Farghana Region, the newspaper said not specifying the amount of heroin found in the parcels.

"The Shahrihon district criminal court has sentenced Muzaffar U. to eight years in prison while Rasuljon Kh. and Nazirjon K. got four years each in a maximum-security prison," the newspaper said. Bakhtiyor T. was put on probation for three years, it said.
