Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Transport Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan has launched a criminal investigation into the collapse of five beams on the overpass under construction in front of the Tashkent International Airport.

Three persons holding official positions were detained as suspects. The damage caused by the fall of each of the 42-meter beams is estimated at 2.76 billion. The investigation is ongoing.

The incident with the collapse of the beams occurred on 12 August. Uzbekistan Temir Yollari stated that the beams fell during installation due to lack of care.
