Three participants from Uzbekistan enter Global Top 100 in Atomic Technology Expertise

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Uzbekistan participated in the Global Atomic Quiz 2024, held in celebration of World Science Day for Peace and Development. According to Rosatom’s press service, three participants from Uzbekistan made it into the global top 100 best experts in atomic technology. The number of participants from Uzbekistan doubled compared to last year.

The Global Atomic Quiz 2024, which marked its fifth anniversary this year, attracted approximately 25,000 participants from 100 countries. Of these, 100 top participants from 32 countries were included in the global ranking of the strongest experts in nuclear technology applications across various sectors.

The Global Atomic Quiz is an international educational project by Rosatom, focusing on the fundamentals of nuclear physics, the use of atomic technologies in daily life, and the role of nuclear energy in preserving the planet. The quiz has been held annually on November 10, World Science Day, since 2020, and is available in 13 languages. Over five years, the project has attracted more than 65,000 participants from over 100 countries. Participants from Uzbekistan have been taking part since 2021.

According to the organizers, the project not only allows participants to test their knowledge of physics and technologies but also broadens their horizons through additional information integrated into the quiz format. This year, participants learned how atomic technologies benefit humanity in five key areas: "Green Energy," "Science," "Agriculture," "Medicine," and "Transport and Industry." Notably, this year, participants competed against neural networks, which were used to compose part of the questions. The quiz was also held offline at the Information Center for Atomic Technologies under the Uzatom Agency.

"We are pleased that this year’s Global Atomic Quiz attracted even more participants from Uzbekistan. This shows that the project has won the hearts of our users and has become an eagerly awaited event. The project expands its geography every year, with increasingly creative and inclusive questions. Nuclear topics cover not only nuclear power plants but also medicine, agriculture, science, and much more. Such educational projects help engage more people, especially youth, through modern tools, introducing them to the world of nuclear technologies and helping them understand their significance and benefits for humanity," said Gulruhsor Ravshanova, Head of Public Relations and Information Advisor at the Uzatom Agency.

One of the winners shared his impressions of the quiz:

"Honestly, I didn’t expect to become one of the winners. It was a big surprise for me. The quiz consists of very interesting questions and answer choices. I would like to note that, firstly, there are no boring questions. Secondly, everyone can learn something new. Thirdly, the level of difficulty allows everyone to check their knowledge and erudition. It encourages each person to explore and research the topic. Overall, I’m very glad I participated. I highly recommend it. Good luck to everyone!" — said Diyorbek Khomumonov, a 4th-year student at the branch of the National Research University "Moscow Power Engineering Institute" in Tashkent.
