Those who harm trees and shrubs and those who have prepared the relevant projects to be held accountable

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the Law on Amendments and Additions to the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Administrative Responsibility discussed at the fortieth plenary session of the Senate, the amount of fines for illegal felling, uprooting, damage, destruction or replanting of trees and shrubs, other plants and seedlings is increasing.

In addition, for the repeated commission of these offenses within a year after the application of an administrative penalty, administrative arrest measures for up to fifteen days are established.

At the same time, administrative liability is now being introduced for the development of project documentation that resulted in felling, uprooting, damage or destruction of valuable species of trees and shrubs.

In addition, administrative liability for illegal felling or uprooting of trees is established in 4 articles of the Code of Administrative Liability. Taking into account the presence in these articles of different amounts of fines and disproportion for the same administrative offense, it is envisaged, by means of amendments, to establish in one article in relation to one type of administrative offense the same responsibility.

It was emphasized that the adoption of this Law serves to prevent administrative offenses related to illegal felling, uprooting, damage or destruction of trees and shrubs, increase in this regard the responsibility of individuals and legal entities, as well as the effective organization of crime prevention and state environmental control.

The law was approved by the senators.
