Theresa May resigned

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May resigned as head of the Conservative Party.

On Friday, 7 June, May officially informed the Conservatives about her retirement, which became known on 24 May.

The conservative party will have to elect a new chairman until mid-July, who will also lead the UK government.

According to observers, the former mayor of London and former foreign minister Boris Johnson, a supporter of the country’s hard withdrawal from the European Union, have the greatest chances to this post. However, a number of other applicants, for example, Environment Minister Michael Gove, have many supporters.

As the reason for leaving the post of head of the Conservative Party, May called intractable differences with the Parliament on plans to secession of the kingdom from the European Union.

Previously, the Brexit agreement, resulting from May’s negotiations with Brussels, was rejected three times by the House of Commons. The exit of Great Britain from the EU should initially take place in March 2019, but then was postponed to 31 October.
