Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The XXXII Ceremony of presenting the First Crystal Turandot Theater Award will be held at the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater on 18 June 2023. The awards will go to the best theatrical premieres of the 2022-2023 season.
"Crystal Turandot" was founded in 1991, becoming the first theatrical award of the new Russia. Its founder, producer and director Boris Belenky gave it the name of the award in honor of the legendary performance of the Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theater based on the fairy tale “Princess Turandot” by Carlo Gozzi.
"Prizes for the best - a holiday for everyone!" is the slogan of the award. The honoring of the laureates is a performance according to the original script, which can be seen only once. The main characters - Princess Turandot and the "stars" of the Moscow theater - the winners of the award.
Over the years of the award’s existence, the role of the crystal princess was performed by such actresses as Maria Aronova, Olga Prokofieva, Nonna Grishaeva, Ekaterina Guseva, Valeria Lanskaya. This time, the theater and film actress Elizaveta Arzamasova will play this role.
It was she who had the honorable mission - to announce from the stage the names of the laureates in traditional nominations: "For the best debut", "For the best male role", "For the best set design", "For the best director", "The best performance of the season". Her Highness will be accompanied by the Enchanted Spectator performed by the leading artist of the Moscow Operetta Theater Alexander Babik.
Initially, "Crystal Turandot" was created as a Moscow theater award, but last year it stepped not only outside Moscow, but also outside Russia.
B. Belenky said that the honorary prize "For honor, dignity and service to the audience" will be awarded to the Uzbek actor and director Rustam Sagdullaev, who became famous for his role as Romeo in the feature film "Only Old Men Go to Battle". This is already our second experience, when "Crystal Turandot" went beyond the borders of Moscow and Russia. Together with the executive committee of the CIS, we award artists from fraternal countries. Last year, an actor from Belarus, Vladimir Gostyukhin, became a laureate. We are convinced that the fire lit by the whole world illuminates the whole world. And this is the purpose of the artist.
