The volume of deliveries of fruits and vegetables from Uzbekistan to is increasing

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of an official visit to Uzbekistan, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov took part in the business forum "St. Petersburg and the Republic of Uzbekistan are expanding the horizons of cooperation." This is reported by the official website of the Administration of St. Petersburg.

Alexander Beglov recalled that St. Petersburg and Uzbekistan are connected not only by a common heroic history, but also by many years of fruitful cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The Governor noted that in the first half of 2022, the volume of trade between St. Petersburg and Uzbekistan increased by 9.5% and amounted to almost US$186 million. He especially noted the increase in imports from Uzbekistan to St. Petersburg - by 74.5%.

“In the first half of 2022, 74.5% more fruits, vegetables and other products were delivered to our city than in the first half of last year. The stable growth of bilateral trade indicators will continue. Our visit will give a new impetus to bilateral relations,” said the head of the northern capital.

Alexander Beglov emphasized that the main goal of the forum is to strengthen partnerships and identify new facets of interaction between St. Petersburg and Uzbekistan, to cover new areas and industries for the benefit of our cities and countries.

During the forum, joint opportunities and the potential for cooperation in the most promising areas were discussed. These are the trade and economic sphere, the consumer market, issues of labor migration, medicine and tourism, and environmental conservation.

Alexander Beglov thanked the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan for their assistance in organizing the business forum.
