The US Department of Homeland Security publishes a report on the main threats to national security in 2020

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the head of this department, Ch. Wolfe, this is the first such report, which combines all the information available to the Department of Homeland Security on factors that threaten US national security, including intelligence and operational data.

The authors of the report, assessing the threats to the US national security in 2020, identified the following problems:

- cybercrime, both by national states and non-state hackers, will remain an acute problem;

- thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, US economic competitors have gained new opportunities to benefit from the Americans;

- China, Russia and Iran will try to compromise or damage critical electoral infrastructure during the 2020 elections through cybercrime.

According to Department of Homeland Security experts, Moscow is trying to destabilize the United States and other liberal democracies by creating chaos. At the same time, Beijing poses a threat to US global and economic leadership. At the same time, China is a "long-term strategic competitor" that steals intellectual property, produces and distributes counterfeit goods and conducts unfair trade practices;

- The greatest terrorist threat to the United States is posed by ideologically motivated lone terrorists and small groups. Extremists remain a constant and deadly threat.

C. Wolfe said that the Americans, having read the report, "will be more aware of such traditional threats for the country as terrorism and organized crime," and will understand that the United States "faces a serious threat from China, Russia and Iran."

In this regard, experts point to the steadfastness of the strategic course of Washington, which considers such countries as the Russian Federation, China and Iran to be the main threat to national security.
