Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The United States applauds the newly adopted legislation criminalizing domestic violence in Uzbekistan and providing stronger legal protections for women and children, the US Embassy in Uzbekistan said in a statement.

This law is an important step toward ensuring all Uzbekistanis are able to feel safe in their communities, at work, and in their homes, the statement said. 

The United States remains committed to helping victims of domestic violence receive protection and support, and we stand ready to collaborate with Uzbekistan’s law enforcement, judiciary, and civil society on the law’s implementation, the US Embassy added.
