Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The United States has expressed its readiness to support Uzbekistan in developing nuclear energy, according to U.S. Ambassador to Uzbekistan Jonathan Henick in an interview with Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
The diplomat emphasized that for the United States and its international partners, ensuring energy diversification is a key priority when planning for the future of energy. This includes not only renewable resources but also areas such as nuclear energy.
Henick highlighted that Uzbekistan should approach the selection of partners for building nuclear power plants with particular caution. He pointed out the existence of various small modular reactor technologies, noting that some require significant water resources, while others can operate without them.
According to the ambassador, regardless of the path Uzbekistan chooses, the United States will provide support. “We are already actively collaborating on capacity building, and we can further strengthen our partnership based on this foundation,” stated Jonathan Henick.
