Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- From 1 to 5 December 2020, a training on the “Development of the Hospitality Industry in Karakalpakstan” will be held in Nukus, the Republic Karakalpakstan.
It will gather 30 participants working in the hospitality industry, including directors, top managers, hotel business owners, as well as representatives of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development.
The training is aimed at building the capacity of the above professionals and local communities in the field of management, development and optimization of hotel business in Karakalpakstan.
The training will be conducted by experts in the field of hospitality, guest service, hotel construction and management, co-founders of the «HotelPro» consulting company Mr Saidkomil Kholkhujaev and Mr Dilshod Odilov.
The event is organized by the UNESCO Tashkent Office in close cooperation with the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development in the framework of the project “Addressing human insecurities in the Aral Sea region through promoting sustainable rural development”*.
During the five-day training programme, the participants will learn how to optimise the capacities of the hospitality industry during the COVID-19 pandemic and in the post-covid period, explore the use of the regional component of cultural and traditional features in the development of the hospitality industry, based on international experience, including the issues on constructing and designing of hotels and home-stays, as well as develop skills to create competitive hotel services and explore the ethical aspects of service personnel.
The hospitality industry plays a crucial role in the development of the tourism sector in Uzbekistan. In order to take full benefit by the country from its tourism potential, the development and modernisation of the hospitality industry shall become a priority in the overall planning of destinations, in places with a rich cultural and natural heritage such as Karakalpakstan.
The project “Addressing human insecurities in the Aral Sea region through promoting sustainable rural development” was launched in 2019 and funded by the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region in Uzbekistan (MPHSTF).
The aim of the project is to address the environmental, social and economic insecurities in the most vulnerable communities of the Aral Sea region through comprehensive solutions in addressing the environmental issues, promoting access to basic services, improving the living standards and developing the sustainable tourism in Karakalpakstan.
Moreover, the project’s objective is to enhance the social wellbeing of the rural population, including women and youth, through expanding income generation opportunities and promoting inclusive sustainable growth of the tourism sector in Karakalpakstan, built on community-based and eco-tourism in the Aral Sea region.
