Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The UN Security Council adopted a resolution on a ceasefire in Gaza during Ramadan.

The UN Security Council adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip before the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Fourteen countries, including Algeria, Guyana, Malta, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Switzerland, Ecuador, Japan and South Korea, voted in favor, while the United States abstained.

The resolution calls for an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan, followed by the pursuit of a long-term sustainable ceasefire.
