Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The third consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. This was stated in an interview with the Pravda Vostoka and Yangi Uzbekiston newspapers by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.
Earlier, the heads of state of Central Asia planned to hold a meeting in August in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan). Later, due to the coronavirus pandemic, she was postponed to autumn
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan noted that, unfortunately, due to the prevailing circumstances with the coronavirus and the continuing uncertainty over the timing of overcoming this pandemic, it is unlikely that it will be possible to hold another third consultative meeting by the end of this year.
According to him, Turkmenistan offered to host the third meeting in 2021 and Uzbekistan supports this initiative.
“We hope to hold the next Central Asian Consultative Summit with a broad and meaningful program,” the minister said.
Abdulaziz Kamilov believes that after the summit in Turkmenistan it will be possible to return to the proposal of Kyrgyzstan to organize a consultative meeting in Bishkek.
