The third batch of anti-hepatitis C drug was delivered to Tashkent from Egypt

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Another batch of the anti-hepatitis C drug Sofosbuvir-400mg in the amount of 6,720 units was delivered to Tashkent from Egypt, Dunyo news agency reported.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Cairo, an agreement was reached with the Egyptian government on the transfer to Uzbekistan until 2025 of a total of 800,000 units (about 40 tons) of the drugs Daclatasvir and Sofosbuvir against hepatitis C and Entecavir against hepatitis B for a total amount of US$4.2 million.

During 2023, these drugs, worth a total of US$696,000, were gradually sent to our country.

On 3 February, Uzbekistan Airways for the third time in 2024 delivered the anti-hepatitis drug Sofosbuvir-400mg, allocated by the Egyptian government as humanitarian aid to our country, from Sharm el-Sheikh to Tashkent. A total of 6,720 units of the drug “Sofosbuvir-400mg” in 12 boxes will be given to recovered patients at the Research Institute of Virology of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

This humanitarian campaign is carried out in accordance with the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Egypt on 20-21 February 2023. Humanitarian assistance helps to provide support to hepatitis patients and their treatment at state expense.
