Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 April, the Judicial Collegium of the Supreme Court for Criminal Cases of Uzbekistan received a protest from the prosecutor’s office of Khorezm region against the sentence of the former head of the regional department of justice, Aibek Masharipov, and the former head of the Yangiarik district department for emergency situations, Anvar Kuryazov, convicted of sexual intercourse with orphanage students.

This protest will be considered in cassation in the Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court on 6 April in a closed court session, the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan said in a statement.

In September 2022, the Khiva District Criminal Court sentenced the head of the orphanage, Yulduz Khudaibergenova, the former head of the department of justice of the Khorezm region, Oybek Masharipov, and the former head of the Yangiaryk district department for emergency situations, Anvar Kuryazov.

Yulduz Khudaibergenova was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold managerial and financially responsible positions for 1 year. At the same time, Oybek Masharipov and Anvar Kuryazov received 1.5 years of restriction of freedom.
