Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An investigator from the prosecutor’s office of Khojaabad district of Andijan region demanded US$5,000 for not applying a preventive measure in the form of “custody” and leniency during the investigation against a suspect involved in a criminal case initiated by the investigative department of the district department of internal affairs under articles 168 and 228 of the Criminal Code.

During an operational event carried out by employees of the State Security Service Department together with the regional prosecutor’s office, he was detained while receiving the requested amount at a public catering point.

A criminal case has been initiated on this fact under Articles 168 and 211 of the Criminal Code.

During the investigation, it was proven that the investigator acted on the instructions of the deputy district prosecutor, who was also taken into custody.

In another case, the assistant prosecutor of Pastdargam district of Samarkand region demanded US$3,000 from the relatives of a citizen accused in a criminal case investigated by the investigative department of the district department of internal affairs, for imposing a less severe punishment and providing assistance in releasing from custody through their acquaintances in the judiciary.

During an operational event carried out by employees of the State Security Service, the assistant prosecutor was detained while receiving US$2,500 of the requested amount.

Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the official under Articles 168 and 211 of the Criminal Code, and a preventive measure in the form of “custody” has been applied.
