Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 May, for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan’s energy sector, the share of electricity produced by wind and solar power plants reached 10.5% of total production, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan said.
According to the ministry, on that day the total share of renewable energy sources in electricity production was 30.6%.
On this day, 184.3 million kWh of electricity was produced in Uzbekistan. Of this, 15.6 million kWh were produced by solar power plants, and 3.7 million kWh by wind power plants. Thus, solar and wind power plants generated 19.3 million kWh of electricity, which is 10.5% of the total.
In addition, on 26 May, 37 million kWh of electricity was produced through hydropower.
Thus, on this day, Uzbekistan produced 56.3 million kWh of electricity from renewable sources, which amounted to 30.6% of the total electricity generation.
