The Senate to hold plenary session on 28 May
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 27 May 2025, a regular meeting of the Senate Council of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent, chaired by Senate Chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva.
During the meeting, the Council approved a resolution convening the seventh plenary session of the Senate, scheduled for 28 May 2025. It is planned that the plenary session will be held using a video conference system.
The agenda includes consideration of a number of important legislative initiatives aimed at amending and supplementing existing laws to improve the legal framework in the areas of tax, entrepreneurship, administrative, and criminal procedural legislation. The implementation of these changes is expected to create a more favorable legal environment for citizens and businesses and provide significant support for the reform of the country’s judicial and legal system.
In addition, senators will review a new Law on Identification, Registration, and Tracking of Animals, aimed at further developing the agricultural and veterinary sectors, as well as reducing epizootic risks.
The agenda also includes the ratification of an Agreement between Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates concerning the provision of legal assistance in civil and economic matters.
Furthermore, the plenary session will hear a National Report on improving Uzbekistan’s positions in key international rankings and indices. The Ministry of Economy and Finance will present information on progress made in developing the service sector in the country’s regions.
Special attention will be given to a report from the Senate Commission on promoting the activation of local representative government bodies, detailing the results of practical and methodological support for the work of regional Councils.
Additionally, the session will address the submission of a parliamentary inquiry to the Ministry of Health regarding measures to improve the quality of medical care for children, the provision of multidisciplinary pediatric medical centers in the regions with specialized narrow-profile professionals, and the equipping of certain medical institutions with modern high-tech equipment in light of unsatisfactory material and technical conditions.
