Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18 January 2024, a regular meeting of the Kengash of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was held. The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Senate Tanzila Narbaeva.

At the meeting, a resolution was adopted to convene the forty-ninth plenary meeting of the Senate on 19 January 2024.

It was noted that at the plenary meeting, which will be held using a video conferencing system, a number of issues are planned to be discussed.

Among them are the laws “On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed at improving the activities of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan in a new edition” and “On introducing additions and amendments to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed to improve the legal framework for combating crime.”

At the plenary session, senators will also consider the laws “On introducing amendments and additions to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on administrative responsibility in connection with the liberalization of liability for certain categories of criminal acts” and “On introducing additions to Article 248 of the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on administrative responsibility "

In addition, at the plenary meeting it is planned to consider the laws “On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the further development of the use of renewable energy sources”, “On introducing amendments and additions to the Customs Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed at further improving customs procedures ", "On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, providing for bringing the national legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan into compliance with the agreements of the World Trade Organization."

At the same time, the laws “On amendments to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “On the ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the transfer of convicted persons (Tehran, on 18 June 2023)”, “On the ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan” will be discussed. Uzbekistan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters (Hanoi, on 14 November 2022).”

Senators will also consider the issue of the National Report on Combating Corruption in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The plenary session will also hear information from the Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the work being carried out on the construction and reconstruction of irrigation and reclamation facilities.

It is also planned to discuss the issue of sending a parliamentary request to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the negative impact of pasture degradation on food security, agricultural production and the environment.
