The Senate Committee analytically discussed the state of provision of transport services to the population

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the present stage of development, the issues of improving the provision of transport services to the population, expanding the network of public transport routes and transferring rolling stock to a modern form, and improving the quality of passenger transportation are relevant.

On 21 November, on the initiative of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, together with the national movement “Yuksalish”, a public hearing was organized on the work done, successes achieved, problems and shortcomings in the provision of transport services to the population.

It was attended by members of the Senate, deputies of local councils, representatives of ministries and departments, experts and specialists, representatives of the public and the media.

First, responsible employees of the Ministry of Transport introduced the state of work performed in the field.

According to the ministry, a mobile application “Toshkent transporti” has been launched on the worldwide information network to track bus points in the city of Tashkent.

At the same time, for the convenience of residents, intermediate public transport stops have been reduced and new modern metro stations have been put into operation. Separate bus lanes have been created and automated payment systems have been introduced.

Over the past time, such airlines as “Qanot sharq”, “Panorama airways”, “Humo air”, “Centrum air”, “Silk avia”, “Asia Union Airlines” and “Tashkent air” have been created and began to provide services to the population. certificates for the transportation of passengers and cargo on international and domestic airlines.

During the discussion, along with the positive work done in this area, a number of issues awaiting resolution in the provision of transport services to the population were considered.

Thus, according to the Federation of Societies for the Protection of Consumer Rights of Uzbekistan, 252 complaints were received from the population regarding shortcomings in the provision of transport services.

Automated fare payment systems for public transport have not been implemented in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Ferghana, Namangan, Jizzakh, Syrdarya, Bukhara, Navoi and Tashkent regions.

In addition, in public passenger transport, the main bus stops for persons with disabilities who need social protection, there are no special devices installed so that they can board vehicles, there are shortcomings in the provision of railway services, which causes reasonable objections from the public and the population .

During the discussion, members of the Senate, deputies and representatives of the public made specific proposals and relevant recommendations for taking the necessary measures to further improve transport services provided to the population.
