Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 July, the Chinese city of Qingdao, Shandong Province, hosted the official award ceremony of the 6th calligraphy competition for participants of the SCO countries.

The event was organized by the Broadcasting Center for Europe and Asia (Renmin Huabao Publishing House) under the PRC Administration for Publication and Distribution of Literature in Foreign Languages together with the Committee for the Management of the China-SCO Regional Trade and Economic Cooperation Demonstration Zone, Dunyo news agency reported. .

The awards were presented to the winners in the presence of diplomats from the embassies of the SCO countries, prominent figures of culture and art, correspondents from leading Chinese media, and famous Chinese calligraphers.

This year, three thousand masters and amateurs of Chinese calligraphy from more than 30 countries took part in the competition. Among the winners there are also representatives from Uzbekistan Sabina Tvirova and Diana Mirzabekova.

By tradition, the works submitted to the competition were evaluated in two categories: calligraphy with a pen and calligraphy with a brush. Since 2014, when the competition was held for the first time, more than 20,000 calligraphy lovers from almost 30 countries have taken part in it. Some decided to learn Chinese just after they got acquainted with the traditions of calligraphy.
