The requirement for prepayment for electricity consumption to textile enterprises is canceled

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Presidential Decree "On measures to support the activities of cotton and textile clusters, radical reform of the textile and clothing and knitwear industry, as well as further increase the export potential of the sector" was adopted.

According to the Decree, funds in the amount of US$200 million for a period of 3 years at a rate of 4 percent per annum are allocated to finance enterprises that export fabrics, knitted fabrics and finished garments and knitwear.

The requirement of a monthly advance payment for electricity consumption to textile and sewing and knitting enterprises is cancelled.

Until 1 April 2023, measures will be taken to attract funds from foreign financial organizations in the amount of US$500 million for a period of 2 years to provide enterprises in the industry with working capital.

Textile and garment-knitting enterprises are allowed to transfer funds abroad in the amount of up to US$100,000 a year without separate decisions to create trading houses and shops abroad.

By the end of the year, small industrial zones specialized in textiles will be created in Andijan, Namangan and Kashkadarya regions, and an Industrial Technopark specialized in deep processing of textile and leather industry products in Tashkent region.

Until 1 April 2023, pilot projects will be implemented in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Khorezm and Namangan regions to train specialists in demanded professions (seamstress, cutter, spinner, mechanic) in the dual education system and introduce foreign (Germany, Turkey) educational programs.

From the 2023/2024 academic year, joint educational programs will be developed to train specialists in demand in the textile industry (engineers, technologists, designers, marketers) at the Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry.
