Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An event in Ashgabat park in Tashkent with the distribution of free toys turned into chaos, causing traffic jams.

On 31 May, Ashgabat Park announced an event in honor of Children’s Day, during which residents were promised to launch 20 thousand free toys from a cannon at 12:00, and also made entrance to the park free.

This led to a massive influx of people. Information appeared on social networks that several children were lost due to the crowd.

A 10-point traffic jam formed on the roads near the Ashgabat park, hampering the movement of ambulances. Traffic police officers were sent to the road to regulate the situation.

Pandemonium also formed at the Mashinasozlar metro station, which is located next to the park.

Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said it had taken control of the situation. Work is underway to eliminate crowds and traffic jams.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that all events such as “Distributing things for free” planned in connection with the holiday in public places in Tashkent have been suspended.
